PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) is committed to improving the role and role of women in the company, by providing equal opportunities regardless of gender for career development, but based on competency considerations and performance appraisal results.
Currently, GIS has as many as 826 female employees who work throughout the company's operations. Meanwhile, until September 2022, the number of female talents in band 1 at SIG has reached 20 percent. This shows the commitment of GIS in developing employee competencies and career opportunities for female employees.
SIG's Corporate Secretary Vita Mahreyni explained that this GIS commitment is also a form of support for the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the fifth goal, namely Gender Equality. GIS is committed to creating a healthy and conducive work environment to encourage the best talents to develop optimally in the company regardless of gender differences and prevent discrimination. This is also in line with the main value of BUMN, AKHLAK (Trust, Competent, Harmonious, Loyal, Adaptive and Collaborative).
"Specifically, SIG also provides facilities for female employees related to their natural needs, such as maternity leave, lactation rooms, dispensation for Hadi, as well as facilitating female workers who carry double burdens as mothers and employees," said Vita Mahreyni.
In addition, the company also ensures equal opportunity in the recruitment process that is carried out without making gender the main aspect. "We ensure that there is no limit for female candidates to be included in every selection process to fill vacant management or senior positions in an effort to increase the number of female talents," said Vita Mahreyni.
Currently, SIG has also formed a community of female employees with the name 'Srikandi SIG' which is an extension of 'Srikandi BUMN'. Through this activity, the company also encourages women empowerment by learning such as change management, managing work and work planning.
The head of Srikandi SIG, Oktoria Masniari said, in addition to learning activities in collaboration with Human Capital, Srikandi SIG also carried out mentoring activities by female employees of band 1 with female employees of band 2. This is also important to support the development of female leadership.
According to him, if employees can show the best performance and develop competence well, career opportunities will open regardless of gender. One of them is the Director of Production in one of GIS's subsidiaries, which is currently held by a woman. This is evidence of affirmative action from management in supporting the realization of leadership equality.
