SIG Wins Three Awards from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources at the Good Mining Practices Award 2022

PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) won three awards from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) at the Good Mining Practices Award 2022 for the Company's success in implementing good mining at the Tuban Plant. The award was handed over by the Director of Coal Business Development of the Directorate General of Mineral and Coal, Lana Saria to Eko Purnomo, Department of Mining & Raw Material GIS, at the Bidakara Hotel, Jakarta, Thursday (29/9).

Three awards were won by SIG Tuban Factory, namely Aditama Award for Mining Environmental Management Aspect Category, Business Entity Group Holding IUP for Mineral and Coal Commodities; The Main Award for the category of Mining Safety Management Aspect, Group of business entities holding IUP BUMN, IUP PMA, IUP PMDN for mineral and coal commodities, as well as the Best Predicate in Mining Environmental Management Aspect, Group of Business Entities Holding Mining Business Permits for Mineral and Coal Commodities.

SIG's Corporate Secretary, Vita Mahreyni said, this award is proof of SIG's commitment to creating safe working conditions and protecting the environment in mining operations.

"This award is a form of appreciation as well as motivation for us to continue to innovate in the application of good mining engineering principles as an effort to implement ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) in the company environment," said Vita Mahreyni.

Vita Mahreyni explained that the mining process carried out by GIS at the Tuban Factory applies the zero run off method, this method is carried out to maintain the balance of underground water in the mining area. Meanwhile, post-mining land management, GIS implements reclamation innovation by using a channel system. This technique is done by making a hole in the form of an elongated groove, such as a trench with certain dimensions as a planting medium, so that it is more effective and efficient as well as environmentally friendly.

In terms of mining safety, GIS implements a driving monitoring system (DMS) by installing fatigue sensors and in-cabin cameras throughout the mining fleet. DMS is an operator monitoring tool to prevent accidents due to fatigue and unsafe action when operating the unit while working. With this DMS, supervisors can monitor and intervene in real time so as to achieve zero accidents in the mining area.

The Award for the Implementation of Good Mining Engineering Rules in 2022 is a form of appreciation from the Government to mineral and coal mining actors who have successfully implemented good mining engineering principles with the aim that business entities holding mining business licenses and mining services business permits have consistent motivation in implementing good mining engineering principles.
