Semen Indonesia Builds a Mortar Plant with a Capacity of 375 Thousand Tons / Year

Jakarta, August 29, 2019 – PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk through its subsidiary PT Mitra Kiara Indonesia (MKI) began construction of a mortar plant with a capacity of 375 thousand tons per year in Narogong, Gunung Putri, West Java, today Wednesday (29/8) ). The Factory Ground Breaking Ceremony was attended by Semen Indonesia Managing Director Hendi Prio Santoso and MKI Director Mirza Whibowo Soenarto.
Also attending the event were Semen Indonesia Business Strategy & Business Development Director Fadjar Judisiawan, Cement Marketing & Supply Chain Director Adi Munandir, Cement Production Director Benny Wendry, Managing Director of Indonesian Building Solutions Aulia Mulki Oemar, Managing Partner AML Anlangentechnik GmBh & Co. KG Matthias Leeke, as well as local community leaders.
MKI is an entity that is part of Semen Indonesia to do business in the downstream cement industry which is expected to increase the competitiveness of the Company and capture opportunities for the growth of the downstream cement industry, so that it can become a new source of revenue for the Company.
Head of the Department of Communication of the Indonesian Cement Company Sigit Wahono, said that the PT MKI mortar plant was built on an area of ​​2 hectares with an environmentally friendly concept and was targeted to be operational in 2020
This mortar plant is a development of the Semen Indonesia business to complement its portfolio of products and services to strengthen derivative products. “This effort was made to expand the diversification of types of products offered by the company to customers,” said Sigit Wahono.
“Mortar is a product with the main ingredients as cement and sand. In general, the sand used is natural sand, but for this new product, Semen Indonesia has developed a technological innovation that can process limestone to replace the function of natural sand, “explained Sigit Wahono.
The construction of a mortar plant is to fill the niche mortar market in the country that is still open. Currently Semen Indonesia already has mortar products produced by PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia, namely Mortar Acian, Mortar Mate and Mortar Plastering.
